Yummy SoupJuly 24, 2012 By jillannr
Tried this today--so easy and fast! I agree with other reviewers that it needed some tweaks (I added 5 garlic cloves, salt and pepper) for more flavor, but what constitutes great flavor is always in the eye of the beholder. This soup is good on its own, or as a starting place for adding other yummy stuff. Will definitely make this again and add veggies, cooked chicken, the possibilities are endless! One comment I would add is that when adding the ""flour with water"", the preparer realizes that this should be a paste--(aka: roux) to thicken the soup. Whisk the ""paste"" to get the lumps out before adding to the soup.

Easy & SimpleDecember 07, 2011 By LDCRust
Weather got cold and was looking for a simple crock pot recipe for potato soup. This was the first one I came up on and had all the ingredients for except parsley. Instead of parsley I used celery and green onions. Once served, I added a little cheese and bacon bits on the top. Yummy! Will definitely make it again! :-)

Joes Crockpot Potato SoupApril 16, 2011 By Sircynge
What a terrible recipe. Followed it to the letter apart from using stock instead of water and after 24 hours in the crockpot nothing but potato chunks and chopped onion. Straight onto the compost heap.

perfect for a cold day!January 12, 2011 By sharirose629
This was a great soup! So easy to make.. i peeled the potatoes first and used abut 6 large potatoes instead of 8. I added the velveta cheese (2% milk fat) and used 2% milk to make it a little healthier. I also served it with crumbled turkey bacon and chives. Yum!

Delish!July 13, 2010 By sassymomma79
I just tweaked a few things. I added dill, garlic salt, onion powder, 7 slices of American cheese, celery, and bacon. I cooked it on high for 4 hrs. It was creamy, easy, and delicious!

DeliciousFebruary 06, 2010 By kms913
I made this yesterday and it is the best potato soup recipe I have ever tried. I mashed up the potatoes and added 1/2 pound of velveeta. It cooked on high in about 4 hours. Served w/crusty bread. Great dinner on a snowy night.

Great soup...just needs a little more tasteFebruary 06, 2010 By prlopez
This was a great recipe for an easy potato soup. I just made a few changes. I did add 4 -5 cloves of garlic with the potatoes and the onion. Never too much garlic. Also threw in one bay leaf. Didn't have all day to cook the soup so I cooked it on high for 5 hours. When the potatoes were done (fork tender) I used a potato masher just to break up the potatoes in order to produce a creamier soup. I used 1 can of evaporated milk plus 1/2 cup of milk. Added salt and more pepper as was suggested by others. Added about 1/2 pound of cooked coursely chopped bacon to the soup. When served, added sharp cheddar cheese on top. The bacon and cheese added that loaded baked potao soup flavor. My family loved it. Great comfort food especially on a cold winter day! Will make this again and again!

Delicious and So EasyFebruary 26, 2009 By lrollings813
I put together everything the night before but then didn't put it out right away the next morning, so I wasn't able to cook the soup all day. It cooked for a total of 4 hours. The potatoes weren't falling apart as much as I would have wanted to but cooking them all day would have done that I'm sure. I actually used a potato masher to break them up a bit more and that worked great. It didn't say what kind of potatoes so I used yukon. I cut the recipe in half since I was only cooking for two and it still turned out great. I added cheese and diced canadian bacon and it tasted great. I added some hot sauce to my bowl which added a nice kick to it. There's a lot of things you could add to make this soup your own. Overall this was incredibly easy and delicious and I will be making it again.

best ever potato soupJanuary 01, 2008 By jollyjudy
I loved this recipe - all you need to do is put it in the slow cooker and go. At the end of the day add the milk and flour and you are ready to eat a delicious gourmet meal. I recommend some drop bisquits or sour dough bread to accompany this delicious hardy meal!
