My husband is from Czech Replic. He absolutely raved about this recipe and how it tastes exactly as his grandmother had made it back in the day! I have made this several times and have even substituted dried fruit for the candied fruit and it still tastes fantastic. Thanks Dianna for the wonderful recipe. :)

I live in South Africa and baked this cake last year for christmas. My husband does not eat citron, so I used candied fruit instead. This cake is heavenly - moist, rich and full of flavour. I bake wedding cakes, but wanted to bake something special for our christmas with the family. Now everybody wants me to bake it every year. My husband is already pushing me to bake it for this year. I can honestly recommend this cake to any fruitcake lover. I used a lot of candied fruit and just made sure that the weight of all my fruit corresponded with the weight of the fruit in the recipe. You can really play with fruit in this one! The molasses adds a nice flavour. Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!
