not goodJanuary 11, 2010 By catmorrison
Not sure where bacon flavor comes in, b/c I cooked this exactly like the recipe and it was tough, dry and when covered in a steak sauce was sort of edible. Stick to a crock pot when cooking a roast like this.

Great CombinationFebruary 05, 2009 By mrmoney17
I found this recipe and read one of the reviews about how a daughter said it was like bacon, so I decided to give it a shot. Wow....! This was extremely easy to make (as I am not a cook), and using the marinade at the end to cover the roast really gave it a ton of flavor. I followed the recipe exactly with the one exception of leaving out the thyme (didn't have any). I also decided to cook it at 300 degrees for 2 hours and 45 minutes so it wouldn't dry out. My family loved it, saying it was the best roast they have ever had.... So I highly recommend this quick, easy, and very tasteful recipe.

AmazingOctober 18, 2008 By BlueRibbonB
I decided to give this recipe a try. I was a little wary of it, so I made a single roast instead of doubling the recipe. I'm so sorry I did! I didn't have any dried thyme leaves, so I used Italian seasoning instead. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. My nine-year-old niece said, ""It's as good as bacon! Not even apple bacon impresses me after this."" My husband said that it's as good as his mother's cooking. Both of those are wonderful compliments, considering the people involved! I think it's just a great recipe.
