Pulled Pork Barbecue
3 out of 5Why spoil a good pork butt with barbeque sauce?March 09, 2012

It's sort of like putting margarine on foie gras. Just do part 1 of this recipe, include a bottle of amber bock, salt, pepper, garlic and whatever spices you are partial to, then cook overnight on low for at least 12 hours. Take out the pork, trim the fat and bones, and pull. It should fall apart. Remove the onions with a slotted spoon and serve with the pork. They are delicious!

Made it in my slow cooker on low for 8 hours. Not liking most store-bought barbeque sauces, I made the sauce that came with the recipe. It is the ONLY barbeque sauce I will eat now. The meat just melted in our mouths. Had to give the recipe to my 11-year-old granddaughter so that she could make it at home.

I have tried a few pulled pork recipes recently, however, I keep coming back to this one again and again because it is the easiest one and it always turns out good. It makes the classic pulled pork sandwich that my family and I love. I always start it around midnight the night before we are going to have it and by late afternoon the next day we have a meal. It is wonderful. I just had it today for Labor Day weekend. Enjoy!

I made this recipe the first time and it was awesome! I used KC Masterpiece Honey Bar B Que Sauce and I wouldn't change it for anything. It gives it the right touch. I also cook mine on high for 6hrs and 30min, it turns out perfect. I add the sauce and let it cook on low for another 2 hours. Everyone loved it!!

I've made this three times in the past few months and it's really great, and easy too. We did notice that it can be better or worse depending on the barbeque sauce you use. We prefer a sauce that isn't super spicy nor super sweet, but that has a kick to it.

This pulled pork hit the spot! We cooked it in the crockpot on high for 4 hours. We then shredded the pork and added Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and cooked it on high for another hour. I would suggest stirring it a couple of times to prevent burning. Put it all together on an onion roll with pickles and coleslaw! Absolutely perfect!

Made this with a 10 pound pork butt and came out better than expected. I also added a half bottle of hickory liquid smoke for extra BBQ flavor as if it had been smoked in a smoker. Very very good!

This is the first Pulled Pork recipe that my husband really liked. Very easy to make. I followed the recipe as written and next time I would omit the cloves. They were a little strong and we don't really care for the clove taste. I will plan on making this again next weekend for a tailgate party.

Super and easy. I ""pulled"" from all of the feedback and used beer and a TBSP of applecider vinegar. Preped the night before and left a can of beer in the fridge and that TBSP of cider vinegar for my wife to add at 8:00am. I leave earlier. Came home to find an empty bottle of BBQ in garbage that I had left out on the counter for the final step..You do the math. Improvised and sifted the pot as the meat rested. Drained a bit more than half of the sauce. Added the onoins and about 1/4 of a bottle of BBQ and added the pulled pork. Stirred often on high(10mins) then on low for about 45 mins. You really cannot go wrong with the old CROCK! PS some pots run hotter!

I used a pork tenderloin about 3.5 lbs-2 bottles of beer in additin to the water and cooked it on high for 3 hours, low for 2...used a bit of garlic powder, some Emeril's seasoning and what a treat! I thinned out my BBQ sauce as some of the other reviewers had done-my husband raved-this was the easiest pulled pork I have ever done! So tender and full of flavor! Thanks.

This was so easy to make. Grocer had roasts on sale, picked up a 5#. Followed the recipe as shown. Cooked it on slow for a few hours then cranked it up on high for a bit. When done I removed the roast and, using 2 forks, ""pulled"" the pork. There are tools you can buy to do this but I used 2 big forks. Pull a bit, eat a bit. Very very tender. Next time I'll pull it and put it back in the crock for a while, skipping the sauce so folks can add it when they're ready. In central NC that's the way it's done. Don't forget the slaw and brunswick stew!

I have made this about 4 or 5 times. Each time I have done something different, but it never turns out badly. First time I cooked it with some of the BBQ sauce in the water... Next time I only had diet BBQ sauce...used that, and added some ketchup. The next time forgot the onions in the pot...today did it without the cloves...and it was still great. My husband thinks we can slow cook any cut and it will always be wonderful. I have used a bonesless or bone in shoulder or butt...only difference is the amount of fat that is discarded.

This is a great recipe that takes little time to prepare. Be sure to add a good amount of water along with the barbeque sauce and have extra on hand when serving.

I live in an apartment with little room in my galley kitchen. This recipe is easy to use and easy on the clean-up. The taste is superb. The only moderation that I made was to cook the pork in a dark beer or ale. I also use a relatively thin barbeque sauce. Once cooked the pulled pork can be frozen in individuual servings for future use. Great for singles or a small family.

I made this twice. The first time I used pork loin and it was pretty good. The second time I used pork butt and it was great. It is as-good or better than pulled pork made in a smoker at a nice barbecue joint.

Used this recipe and replaced water with beer for the first part. For the BBQ sauce I used about a 1/3 cup of honey and also about 4 ounces of water. Used the 4 ounces of water by rinsing out the BBQ sauce bottle. The pulled pork did not come out dry. Everyone at the party had seconds and loved it. Thank you Diane Rattray for the recipe. PS - also put colelsaw on the buns - it was great.
