Scottish Shortbread

My wife had to get a simple recipe for her culinary arts class for pre-schoolers. I found this recipe and gave it to her thinking it was just simple and fast. We had no idea how fantastic these shortbreads would come out. It was all we could do to keep from eating all the cookies before her class the next day. Thanks for such a great recipe.

This is definately one of the best recipes I have used. I love making shortbread, but hate having to go to the shops to get all the ingredients, and i don't have to with this one :) Thankyou!

I have made this recipe several times and it always comes out great. I do, however, bake the cookies in a shortbread pan and do not use cookie cutters. I have tried other shortbread recipes using powdered sugar and they don't have that melt-in-your-mouth consistency!!

i'm in school to be a pastry chef and i've used this recipe many many many many times, i've even baked them and taken them to school to be sampled by some of the most accomplished chefs in the u.s. and they agree, these are good. however, i do roll them and plank cut them instead of using cookie cutters ( plank meaning traditional shortbread shape, rectangular ) and i dust them with granulated sugar before baking.
