I read the other reviews before making this. The recipe was already corrected regarding amount of salt. I didn't have shortening and used 1/3 cup of a stick of margarine instead. My family agrees, this recipe is a keeper.

This is an easy, dependable shortcake recipe. The amount of salt is correct at 1/4 tsp. Easy. Quick. Tasty.

DO NOT USE THIS RECIPEMarch 22, 2008 By seabird34
Thanks for the salty shortcake!!!.I am not too happy! Normally I would use less than l teaspoon of salt. The recipe called for 1 tablespoon of salt. Needless to say it was inedible. Last time I try one of your recipes

The only reason I am rating this recipe so slow is because I think there was a mistake with the amount of salt. I was shocked to see it called for a whole tablespoon and should have realized that was a mistake. I would recommend the usual teaspoon of salt for this recipe.
