This is the best SP recipe ever. Others have said it is too sweet but it is just the way we like them..hence the name sweet potatoes. I make it for every special occasion. Try it this Christmas you won't be disappointed.

    Ugh! Way too sweet!November 25, 2010 By julie8103
Chose this recipe to make for Thanksgiving dinner. We normally love sweet potatoes and the last casserole I made was wonderful. I couldn't find my old recipe so I tried this one. It was like candy. Much too sweet to eat. A cup and a 1/2 of sugar is WAY too much! No one was able to eat it. I even used more than the recommended amount of sweet potatoes. Yuck.

    Excellent Recipe!November 28, 2008 By mommaliesel
I made this recipe exactly as written only I baked it with pecans on top and then toasted the marsh-mellows as directed at the end of the baking process. It was very sweet and I may back off on the sugar next time (trying 1/2 cup maybe.) I used Maker's Mark bourbon. The pecans added a wonderful flavor reminiscent of pecan pie and though it seems like such a small amount of cinnamon and allspice that the recipe calls for, it was perfect. I also did this dairy free using rice milk instead of cow's milk. I baked this in a 13x9 casserole and it took at least 45 min to bake. I'll be making this one often! It was a huge hit.

    A Yummy old favorite!November 23, 2007 By Sus_E
It took me a while to find a recipe online for the yummy Sweet Potatoes that my mom used to make. I think my mom sometimes put pineapple in there too, but I didn't have any, so didn't bother. I also didn't have allspice (I live overseas and these ingredients aren't readily available), but it was nice to see a recipe using fresh ingredients that I could do here! I will use more potatoes next time around, even though I used 7. I think mine were a bit on the skinny side! Also, I needed this to be a non-dairy dish, so I used soy milk instead of regular milk. And, I didn't use as much as the recipe called for........it's still perfect!

This is the best sweet potato casserole! I made this recipe for the first time 3 years ago. My family expects me to make this every holiday. We have several people in our family that don't like sweet potatoes, but they love this casserole!
